Forensic Evaluations or Forensic Mental Health Assessments may be requested by attorneys or the court to address questions pertinent to civil, criminal, and family law. Typically, forensic psychologists are trained in mental health test administration and scoring, interviewing for forensic purposes, and the integration of relevant materials to assist legal inquiry through rendering a report and/or providing oral expert testimony to the court. These evaluations are conducted in a manner consistent with The Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychologists (1991) which provide guidance for the ethical practice of Forensic Psychology.
